Get ready to rock! School of Rock – The Musical is the electrifying stage adaptation of the hit 2003 film, featuring an incredible score by Andrew Lloyd Webber. This high-energy production follows the story of Dewey Finn, a down-and-out musician who fakes his way into a prestigious prep school as a substitute teacher. Instead of sticking to the curriculum, he transforms his class of straight-A students into a mind-blowing rock band, helping them discover their hidden talents and a love for music along the way.

Packed with show-stopping numbers, heartwarming moments, and laugh-out-loud comedy, School of Rock is a feel-good musical that celebrates the power of passion, friendship, and following your dreams. With an unforgettable mix of rock anthems and brand-new songs, this show is perfect for music lovers of all ages.

Launch night and auditions

Think you’ve got what it takes to bring this story to life? Join us for Launch Night on Wednesday 23rd April at The Vale School, Epsom to meet the creative team and learn how to get involved. The evening will start at 7pm for the young performers, followed at 8pm for the adults. Whether you’re a talented young performer, a seasoned actor, or a rockstar in the making, we want to hear from you!

If you can't make the launch night

No worries, we’ve got you covered! This website will provide all the essential details about the audition process, audition pieces, and more. Plus, we’ll be recording the launch event and making it available here a few days later for anyone who couldn’t attend in person.

Children performing in the show

We are looking for young performers ideally aged between 11 and 16. While 17-year-olds may be considered if they have a convincingly younger playing age, we aim to maintain a balanced cast where all children look like they could be in the same school class. Our priority is talent, but we also want to ensure fairness in musical ability and a safe, supportive environment for all participants.

We’re on the hunt for 12 standout performers to bring our incredible named characters to life. This is your chance to shine on stage and be part of an unforgettable production!

Adult roles

We’re looking for a fantastic adult cast to perform alongside the children and bring this exciting and high-energy musical to life! We need 4 principal adults, plus 4 rockstars to form the “No Vacancy” band, including one dynamic lead singer and three musicians (traditionally male roles, but we’re open to a mix of men and women). We also need 10 parents who should look old enough to be believable in their roles, these characters have dialogue but no singing or dancing. Additionally, we’re casting 12 teachers and bar patrons, who will feature in two musical numbers (no dancing required). Depending on interest, some roles may be doubled up, or everyone may take on both teacher and parent roles. If you’re ready to be part of an electrifying production, we want to hear from you!

Audition process

We’re expecting a huge interest in this show, so we’re changing up the audition process!

The first step for children auditioning and those going for the role of Dewey will be to upload a video to our secure location for the panel to review. From there, selected performers will be invited to a face-to-face audition on Sunday May 18th.

Full details on what to prepare, how to submit your video and key deadlines, will be shared at our Launch Night on Wednesday April 23rd. Don’t miss it!
