Epsom Light Opera Company was absolutely delighted to welcome more than 100 people to our Beauty and the Beastlaunch night and AGM at The Good Shepherd Church Hall.
The response was incredible, with the hall reaching literal standing room only as members, returning performers and new faces gathered to begin the journey towards our next production.
Both the production team and committee were thrilled to see so many familiar faces returning from Come From Awayand School of Rock, alongside long standing ELOC members and a huge number of people joining us for the first time. It was wonderful to see such excitement and enthusiasm in the room, and we are delighted to welcome you all to the ELOC family.
The evening began with the Beauty and the Beast launch, where the production team shared their vision for the show. Lian, Sarah and Chris did a fantastic job guiding everyone through many of the practical aspects of the production. From explaining the relationships and pairings between characters such as The Beast, The Prince and Belle, to outlining the style and approach for the production, the session gave everyone a really exciting insight into what is ahead. If you have any further questions, please do contact the committee or production team.
Following the launch, the AGM provided a brilliant opportunity to reflect on another successful year for ELOC. Chair Rick gave a great reminder of our recent productions, Crazy for You and School of Rock, celebrating the hard work and achievements of everyone involved. Simon, our Treasurer, then presented a thorough financial overview of the year. While Crazy for You resulted in a loss, the excellent success of School of Rock meant the company finished the year in profit overall.
We were also delighted to welcome Lian Finne and Rebeca Kemble to the ELOC committee and look forward to working with them over the coming year.
We now look ahead to the next stage of the process, with our next get together taking place on:
We cannot wait to see everyone again as preparations for Beauty and the Beast continue.
