Keeping ELOC Going through the Pandemic

So let's start at the beginning, it's March 2020 and the COVID pandemic hits the world. ELOC was in the final weeks of Crazy For You and other societies were even running through their dress rehearsals when the Government issued a National Lockdown. Soon after the rehearsals were stopped, Sophie and Paul started to run a weekly musical themed quiz night in an effort to keep the members engaged and catch up with each other. Every week around 25 people joined for the quiz and in the back ground the committee started to think about on-line Zoom rehearsals.

Rehearsals started later in the year with some of our favourite numbers from shows we've performed, but it was soon clear that the society needed a focus for the sessions. It was then decided that we would aim to put on some form of performance once restrictions allowed us to do so.

Each week our Musical Directors Dennis Hooker and Chris Evans take us through a song, note bash and do the best they can with Zoom to get us going through the numbers and our different parts. There is such a huge amount of effort that goes into the rehearsal from Dennis and Chris, we can't thank them enough.

We are all looking forward to the end of June where we all hope we can meet and sing in person.
